Structural Tagging
Execute category-specific automated tagging for beams, columns, foundations, and walls using standardized project families.
Dedicated Tagging Commands
The tagging suite is divided into four targeted actions. Each button scans the active view for the specific category and applies tags based on your predefined offsets and family types.
Applies tags to all Structural Framing elements. Typically configured to display the Mark or Type Name at the beam centerline.
Places tags on Structural Columns. Optimized for Plan views (centered) or Elevation views (with vertical offsets).
Identifies all Isolated, Wall, or Slab footings and applies the designated foundation tag family.
Tags structural walls, often used in GA plans to identify wall thickness, reinforcement type, or structural Mark.
How Tagging is Applied
Settings-Driven Placement
The position, leader line status, and family type for these tags are NOT hardcoded. They are pulled directly from the Tag Settings panel.
- Leader: Toggle on/off globally.
- Offset: Define X/Y distance from the element insertion point.
Smart Avoidance
The engine attempts to detect existing tags to prevent "double tagging." If an element already has a tag of the same category, it will be skipped unless the "Force Update" option is enabled in settings.
Workflow Comparison
| Category | Standard View | Tagging Logic |
|---|---|---|
| Beams | Plan / Elevation | Aligned to element curve; placement at mid-span. |
| Columns | Plan | Centered on the column bounding box. |
| Foundations | Plan | Top-center placement relative to footing geometry. |
| Walls | Plan / Elevation | Horizontal or vertical tags based on wall orientation. |
Use these buttons to quickly clean up views after manual edits or after using the GA Generator if additional elements were added to the project.
