Structural Detailing
Generate high-fidelity, annotated detail views for beams, columns, and walls with a single click.
Contextual Detail Generation
The Detail tool is designed for speed in Elevation views. By selecting a host element, the system automatically determines the best cutting plane and detail orientation.
Select any structural host (Beam, Column, or Wall). The tool identifies the element's geometry to center the new detail view perfectly.
Unlike standard Revit sections, this tool immediately applies dimensions, tags, and graphical overrides upon creation.
Supported Element Details
Beams & Walls
Generates cross-sections showing reinforcement layers, clear cover, and stirrup configurations. Dimensions typically reference the element faces.
Columns
Creates plan-style details of the column section at the clicked elevation height, highlighting bar arrangements and tie/link geometry.
Detailing Standards
| Feature | Workflow Description |
|---|---|
| View Template | The Detail View Template (defined in General Settings) is applied instantly to control scale (typically 1:10 or 1:20) and visibility. |
| Automated Tagging | All rebar sets within the detail are tagged using the project's preferred multi-rebar or individual tag families. |
| Smart Dimensions | The tool adds internal dimensions for section width/depth and external dimensions for total element size. |
| Naming Convention | Views are named based on the host Mark and Section type (e.g., "DET_B1_Section_1"). |
This command must be executed within an Elevation View. It uses the elevation's cutting plane as the reference for generating perpendicular detail sections.
