Automated Dimensioning

Streamline documentation by automatically generating linear dimensions for structural framing, columns, and foundations.

Dimensioning Targets

Select the structural categories to be included in the automated dimensioning run. The tool calculates distances based on element centerlines or faces depending on project standards.

Framing Perimeter Beams

Automatically detects and dimensions the external boundary of the building footprint, tagging all primary perimeter framing.

Internal Internal Columns & Footings

Generates dimension strings between internal grid intersections, column centers, and pad footing boundaries.

Vertical Column Context

Since elevations and plans may reference different structural levels, define which column segment the tool should target:

Column Above Level

Target columns starting at the current view's associated level and extending upward.

Column Below Level

Target columns supporting the current level (extending downward to the level below).

Dimension Properties

Option Behavior
Dimension Style Uses the default Revit "Linear Dimension Style" assigned in the global settings tab.
Offset Distance The distance from the element face to the first dimension line to prevent overlap with rebar tags.
Witness Lines Automatically suppresses witness lines that overlap with structural grids.
